Les Belles Amours

Les Belles Amour is a story of liaison, jealousy, revenge, and all things French. The blurb was right. It did confirm all the French stereotypes. Humor aside, this was one of the best books I’ve read this year. If you’ve been reading my book reviews for a while now, you’ll know that I love poetic storytelling, romantic characters, and period pieces. This book ticked all of my boxes.

The storyline was realistic without being blunt. It was beautiful without being corny. It embodied everything I love about the French. Just like in “The Great Gatsby,” there was no character particularly likable in the novel, but somehow, you want them to get what they need from each other.

I know that this is one of the books I will keep coming back to whenever I need to escape.
