Himlay, (2017)
Acrylic on canvass, 15.7″ x 19″
“Himlay” is probably the closest one to my heart. I created this artwork during one of my darkest moments — when I was suffering from insomnia and depression, when dreams were just as blurry and scary as my real life.
I couldn’t seem to find any place of rest or “Himalayan.” So I created this picture of a woman who’s in a resting position but doesn’t have anything to lean on. Her position isn’t the most comfortable one, too.
I still feel ill at ease whenever I see this painting, but I’m just glad that in a way, I was able to release some of the tension and troubles I had during that time and turned it into an artwork I’m actually proud of.
